A moderate morning hike through pine and aspen to a small alpine lake. The altitude does most of the work, so we’ll take it slow and carpool from downtown.

Saturday
Shuttle to Log Haven

Shuttles leave promptly at 5:00 PM for the drive up Mill Creek Canyon. Return shuttles will run approximately every hour through the evening, including transportation to the after-party at the Alta Club.
Wedding Ceremony & Reception

The ceremony will take place on the Lakeside Garden Meadow. We'll have heel stoppers on hand so your favorite heels won't sink into the grass. No need to switch to flats.
Cocktail hour will be outside on the Hillside Amphitheater.
Dinner and toasts will be inside, in Log Haven's main dining room.
Dancing will be outside on the patio. There will be ample heat lamps, but we recommend women bring a sweater or shawl.
Shuttle Back Downtown
The final shuttle leaves Log Haven at 11:00 PM, with drop-offs at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco and the Alta Club.

We've reserved a limited number of rooms at the Alta Club for close friends and family throughout the wedding weekend. If you're seeing this, a room has been reserved for you.
You're welcome to stay elsewhere, but at $160 a night, it's one of the better rates you'll find downtown, and we wanted to make sure a room at the Club was available to you if you'd like it.
To reserve your room, call the Club at (801) 322-1081 and let them know which nights you plan to stay.
We've held room blocks at three hotels downtown, each within an easy walk or short ride of the Welcome Party and shuttle pickup.

Eat & Drink in SLC
Salt Lake City isn't exactly known for its food scene, so temper your expectations. That said, we do have some favorites. Here are a few places we recommend while you're in town.
Ruth's Diner

A Salt Lake institution tucked into Emigration Canyon, Ruth's has been serving breakfast and brunch since 1930. Go for classic diner favorites, their famous mile-high biscuits, and a relaxed patio surrounded by the foothills. About 15–20 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City.
The Rose Establishment

A neighborhood café just west of downtown serving excellent coffee, pastries, and a seasonal breakfast and brunch menu. The relaxed atmosphere and sunny patio make it a great spot for a slower morning. About 5 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City.

A beloved Salt Lake bakery known for excellent pastries, croissants, cakes, and coffee. With two locations, one near downtown and another in the 15th & 15th neighborhood, it's a great casual option for breakfast, coffee, or something sweet.

An old-school Italian deli a few blocks from the hotels, with house-made bread and a muffaletta worth the trip. Soups, salads, and hot entrees too, all super casual, ordered at the counter.

Our favorite sushi spot in Salt Lake City and one of the best restaurants in town. Expect excellent sushi, sashimi, and Japanese small plates. They don't take reservations, so arrive early or be prepared to wait.
Bambara

Located inside the historic Hotel Monaco, Bambara is a longtime downtown favorite serving modern American cuisine. A great option for dinner or drinks and an easy walk from many downtown hotels.

Utah State Capitol

Set on a hill overlooking downtown with views of the Wasatch Mountains. Tour the historic building, walk the grounds, or continue into nearby Memory Grove. Just 5 to 10 minutes from downtown.
Natural History Museum of Utah

Right next to Red Butte Garden, so easy to pair for an afternoon. Exhibits on Utah's natural history inside the Rio Tinto Center, with views out over the valley.
Salt Lake LDS Temple

Following a multi-year renovation, the historic temple is open to the public for the first time since its original dedication in 1893. You'll need to reserve tickets in advance.
Red Butte Garden & Arboretum

More than 100 acres of gardens, walking paths, and natural areas in the foothills above the city. About 15 minutes from downtown, and especially beautiful in late September.
Little Cottonwood Canyon
Alta, UTOne of the most beautiful corners of the Wasatch Mountains, home to Alta and Snowbird. Perfect for hiking, a scenic drive, or just taking in the fall color. About 30 to 40 minutes from downtown.
Snowbird Tram

Ride the aerial tram to the top of Hidden Peak for panoramic views of the Wasatch Mountains from over 11,000 feet, an easy way to take in the mountains without a hike. About 35 to 40 minutes from downtown.
Big Cottonwood Canyon
Brighton, UTA scenic drive up to Brighton and Solitude, with dramatic mountain scenery and hiking trails along the way. For a longer drive, continue over Guardsman Pass and down into Park City. Fall color can be spectacular in late September.
Park City
Park City, UTJust 30 miles from downtown Salt Lake City, Park City is a charming mountain town known for its Main Street shops, restaurants, and beautiful scenery. Spend an afternoon exploring downtown, grab a drink, or take a scenic drive through the mountains. About a 40-minute drive from downtown Salt Lake City.
Bonneville Golf Course

Salt Lake City's classic municipal course, opened in 1929 at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Just 5 minutes from downtown, with sweeping views of the Wasatch Front and the whole valley.
Mountain Dell Golf Course

Two 18-hole courses tucked into Parleys Canyon, about 15 minutes east of downtown. The higher elevation keeps things cooler, and it's not unusual to spot deer or moose along the fairways.
Soldier Hollow Golf Course

Widely considered the best public golf in the area. Two championship courses in the Heber Valley, about 50 minutes from downtown, on the grounds of the 2002 Winter Olympics cross-country venue.
Liberty Park Tennis Center

Utah's largest public tennis facility, with sixteen lighted outdoor courts and an indoor bubble, a pro shop, and locker rooms. About 10 minutes from downtown, tucked into one of Salt Lake's oldest and best-loved parks.
George S. Eccles Tennis Center

Home to the University of Utah's tennis teams, with eight indoor courts open to public rental plus six more outdoors. About 10 minutes from downtown, near the Natural History Museum.
